The Pipes & Drums of

Palmerston North & Districts Inc.

15th birthday party

In 1994 two pipers who had played for many years in graded bands discussed the idea of forming a band to enable pipers and drummers to continue playing in a more relaxed environment.
From this idea the Pipes & Drums of Palmerston North & Districts was born. The band can be seen, on regular occasions, performing for charitable organisations and taking part in Civic and other public parades in Palmerston North and surrounding districts.
'Districts' was incorporated into our title to represent the spread of our membership who come from Masterton, Dannevirke, Marton and all places in between as well as Palmerston North.

The band currently has 20 playing members of whom 14 are pipers. Like a lot of bands we are suffering from a dearth of snare drummers. Regular practices are held in the afternoon of the second and fourth Sunday of each month at the Palmerston North RSA.
If you are interested in playing pipes or drums (age is no barrier) in a purely social environment without the added pressures associated with competition preparation then the Pipes & Drums of Palmerston North & Districts are for you. For further information contact the band secretary:
