Welcome to the website of the Manawatu Scottish Society. We are a small Society in Palmerston North, New Zealand. We have three competing pipe Bands, an affiliated social Pipe Band and a Country Dance Club under our banner. Our aim is to foster Scottish culture and we do that by providing and maintaining a hall for the bands and dancers to practice, organising solo and Pipe Band contests and having functions to celebrate Robert Burns and St. Andrew. We also have various other social functions as we feel the urge. Our No. 1 Pipe Band was the New Zealand National Champion Band from 2001 - 2006 and regained the title in 2008. The band achieved 8th place in the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow in 2007. Navigate with the buttons on the left side of the screen to find out more about us. There is information and entry forms for Jenny Mair Highland Square Day, held in Palmerston North Square every year on the second Saturday in December, with around eighteen bands competing from around New Zealand and Australia.
